What is an oil seal used for?
An oil seal (rotary shaft seal) rides the shaft and the housing bore so grease or oil stays in the bearing cavity. USA Bearings and Belts stocks inch and metric seals such as 07886 and 07914 by measured size.
How is an oil seal different from a gasket?
A gasket seals two stationary faces. An oil seal seals a spinning shaft. If the old part has a metal case and a rubber lip, you want a seal, not a gasket.
How do you read inch vs metric oil seal sizes?
Inch seals list shaft × bore × width in inches (07886 is 2.000 × 2.686 × 0.375). Metric seals use millimeters. Measure the shaft and housing before you cart.
