How do I know what mower belt I need?

Are all 42 inch mower belts the same?
No. A 42-inch deck does not mean one belt length or one OEM number. Deck brand, drive type (deck vs traction), and year change the belt. Match the stamped OEM number or call with the model.
How long do lawn mower belts usually last?
A deck belt lasts until it glazes, cracks, or stretches enough to slip. Hours vary with grass load and pulley alignment. Replace the belt when it slips under load or shows dry cracks — do not stretch a worn belt to “make it work.”
